Take your students back in time on the Erie Canal this fall! Spring cruises fill up quickly, but we have availability for your class this autumn before our season ends on October 31st.

This is the perfect field trip for 4th graders studying New York State history. Students will cruise on the replica packet boat Sam Patch and find out how the Erie Canal changed the course of Rochester, New York State, and American history. They’ll learn about the engineering marvels that made canal construction possible, hear tales of canaller life in the 19th century, and discover the role of the canal in making Rochester “America’s first boom town.” Students will also experience passage through a lock and will observe the wildlife that lives in and around the canal habitat.

Sam Patch field trips are BOCES-aidable. Check with your Principal or District Office for details and book a memorable and inspiring cruise for your class today!
