Riverie is wheelchair accessible. The bathroom onboard is also wheelchair accessible.
For Sam Patch, passengers need to descend three steps to board the boat. For liability reasons, the staff is not able to lift the passenger while seated in the wheelchair into the boat. We request people who need assistance descending have someone in their party help them. While there is a bathroom on board, it is not wheelchair accessible. Riverie is located on the Genesee River at 280 Exchange Blvd, Rochester, NY 14608.
Sam Patch is located on the Erie Canal at 12 Schoen Place, Pittsford, NY 14534. -
For Riverie, park in the lot at Corn Hill Landing or along the Exchange Blvd.
For Sam Patch, park across the street along the fence by the Coal Tower Restaurant. We recommend you try to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your cruise departure time. -
We do not offer reserved seating. It is first come, first served.

There is no outdoor seating aboard Riverie.
There is a bench that seats 2-3 people on the bow of Sam Patch. -
Due to our County Health Permit and Liquor License passengers may not bring their own food and drink onboard.

On both vessels we offer light snacks such as cookies and chips. We also have wine, beer,hard cider, seltzer, canned cocktails, soft drinks and water available for purchase.

Consult the tour description on our website. We offer Erie Canal Lock 33 tours on Riverie, and Erie Canal Lock 32 tours on Sam Patch.

Yes, both vessels will cruise rain or shine.

Most of our tours feature live, guided narration.

While not required, we recommend you purchase your ticket in advance to go on a public cruise.

For cruises during the week we recommend purchasing tickets 2 -3 days prior to your desired cruise date and time. For weekends and holidays, a week before should suffice.

In accordance with ADA regulations, only trained service animals are permitted aboard our vessels. Pets, exotic species, therapy or emotional support animals are not permitted.

Yes – both vessels can be privately chartered. Please see our charter page for more information.

While we occasionally offer dinner cruises, the best way to enjoy a meal on one of our boats on the date of your choice is to privately charter the vessel.

We are a small nonprofit organization – we rely on ticket sales to fund our organization and we do all we can to fundraise and get as many people as possible out on Rochester’s incredible waterways.
We will gladly refund your ticket purchase or switch you to another trip if you notify us by phone or email more than 24 hours before your departure time.
If you are unable to attend a cruise and notify us within 24 hours of the departure time, we can issue a credit for a future trip or switch you to another scheduled trip. We do not issue refunds for cancellations within 24 hours.
Occasionally, it’s necessary to cancel a scheduled cruise due to inclement weather or for emergency vessel repairs. In these cases, we’ll work with you to reschedule your cruise, issue a credit for a future trip, or process a refund.

Usually tours on Sam Patch depart every two hours from noon onward. No public tours on Tuesdays. Please check our schedule for public tour departures on Riverie.

Most tours are 90 minutes long, but some special events can be longer.

Wear casual, comfortable clothes and sensible shoes such as sneakers or deck shoes. Bring a sweater or raincoat just in case.

Each passenger can bring one hand- or tote bag onboard.

Motion sickness is possible on the Genesee River, and less likely on the Erie Canal, although it has happened to those who are a very sensitive. If you are prone to this, we recommend taking over the counter medication prior to your scheduled departure or not going on the cruise.
