ATTENTION TEACHERS! Take your students back in time on the Sam Patch this fall!

Celebrate the Erie Canal’s Bicentennial and take your students back in time on Sam Patch this fall! We’re often booked up for spring cruises and have to turn classes away. But we have openings for your class this fall before our season ends on October 31.

This is the perfect field trip for fourth graders studying New York State history. Students will cruise on the replica packet boat Sam Patch and find out how the Erie Canal changed the course of Rochester, New York State, and American history. They’ll learn about the engineering marvels that made canal construction possible, hear tales of canawler life in the 19 th century, and discover the role of the canal in making Rochester “America’s first boom town.” Students will also experience passage through a lock and will observe the wildlife that lives in and around the canal habitat.

Sam Patch field trips are BOCES-aidable. Check with your Principal or District Office for details and complete the form below to book a memorable and inspiring cruise for your class today! Visit our Educational Charters page to learn more.
