Corn Hill Navigation invites everyone to celebrate the Erie Canal Bicentennial with a homemade birthday card!
To commemorate the Erie Canal’s 200th “birthday,” Corn Hill Navigation is launching a Bicentennial Birthday Card Initiative, encouraging the community, especially students and families, to submit home-made birthday cards throughout the boating season.
- Cards may be displayed at the Corn Hill Navigation Waterfront Center (WFC) and/or shared on social media channels.
- Each week a card will be randomly chosen and the well-wisher will receive four tickets for a cruise on one of the two CHN boats — Sam Patch or Riverie.

Additionally, Corn Hill Navigation has created an oversized, public birthday card at the Waterfront Center, where the community can stop by to sign the card and leave a special message for the Erie Canal. CHN’s giant birthday card will be presented to the State of New York, in appreciation of 200 years of maintaining the Erie Canal, at the World Canals Conference in Buffalo this fall.
