Captain Beth McNeill came on board as a crew member with Corn Hill Navigation (CHN) in May 2023. This past May, she earned her USCG 25 ton Master’s License. This license allows Beth to operate Sam Patch as a Captain.

She is already looking forward to working on obtaining her 50 ton Master’s license so she can operate Riverie as a Captain as well!

Beth says she enjoys interacting with passengers on the cruises. On a recent cruise, Beth enjoyed meeting and talking to the 1949 Lilac Festival Queen who was accompanied by the same gentleman who escorted her to the parade in ’49. On the same cruise, a couple was thrilled to hear the Dady Brothers recording of the Erie Canal song the Dady Brothers played at their wedding!

Past crewing experiences include transporting private yachts that have taken Captain Beth on many journeys. She describes one as going from Connecticut, along the Hudson River in Manhattan to Waterford and the eastern end of the Erie Canal. Another trip took her on four of the five Great Lakes.

Having taught EMS courses for 28 years, Capt. Beth wrote and published an EMT case studies book, and was on the EMS national speaking circuit.

Captain Beth and her husband, Andy, live in Brighton. They have two adult daughters, plus 2 rescue dogs.

Be sure to say “Hello” to Captain Beth the next time you are aboard Sam Patch or Riverie.
