Traverse the legendary Erie Canal — considered by many to be the eighth wonder of the world — on a replica historic packet boat. Cruises offer a rare perspective on the region’s cultural heritage, offering live narration and a trip through a century-old lock.

Each year, more than 11,000 people — representing all 50 states and more than 30 countries — cruise on the Erie Canal on the Sam Patch, named after the 19th-century mill worker who became America’s first famous daredevil who met his fate in Rochester, NY.

Speaker Series Membership $100

Unlocking the Past: Navigating the Erie Canal’s First 200 Years Speaker Series takes an in-depth dive into the values, customs, ideas, and creativity that were sparked by the opening of the Erie Canal and the impact this waterway had on the individual and on the collective society of upstate NY and beyond.

This membership allows you to enjoy 4 different speakers and presentations during the Erie Canal’s Bicentennial year!

Memberships need to be used within the 2025 season. All 4 cruises will be validated within the Speaker Series activities on both vessels. Capacity for each presentation is first come, first serve.
